Halco's Investment In It's Workforce Pays Dividends
Recently the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) published an article praising Halco for its commitment to energy efficiency, customer service, and for creating jobs as a successful business in a tough economy. NYSERDA is a third party corporation that works to inform consumers with regards to analysis, innovative programs, and technical expertise so that they can make the most informed decisions when they choose to increase energy efficiency in their homes. Halco is exactly the type of company that NYSERDA likes to showcase.
Since 1984, Halco has been trying to provide superior customer service. However, that task grew increasingly difficult in the recent era of economic downturn, where energy prices and unemployment figures soared. Instead of downsizing though, Halco made smart investments in their future – expanding services to encompass whole-house energy services, providing proper employee training, and reinventing their image to be focused on energy efficiency. As a result of their changes, Halco earned the Building Performance Institute’s (BPI) accreditation and special certifications for every individual technician so they can participate in NYSERDA programs and earn incentives. This makes Halco an increasingly credible contracting company and also adds professional value to each of Halco’s workers.
Halco was able to hire workers that had been unemployed because of the economic crisis and who were also unemployable as a result of changing technology or not having access to the resources necessary to update their professional skills. They hired these workers and provided them with the resources to stay active in the job market and to help expand the company across 23 counties in upstate New York.
Customers gained access to better products and also better customer service! This was a direct result of Halco’s investments in whole-house energy services, employee training, and energy efficient products.
