Finger Lakes Works With Their Hands 2017
The 12th Annual "Finger Lakes Works...With Their Hands!" was held Thursday, October 5th at Rodman Lott & Son Farms in Seneca Falls, NY. Each year several hundred students from all area high schools and BOCES districts attend this exciting event. More than 50 businesses, trade unions, colleges and organizations provide hands on demonstrations and activities for the students including welding, pole climbing, nail driving competitions, engineering skills, bricklaying, electrical wiring, the actual operation of heavy equipment and much, much MORE! At the Halco building, students could ride a scissor lift and try their hand at plasma cutting, soldering, and conduit bending.
Halco Hard Hats. Halco is a founding member of Finger Lakes Works With Their Hands and we continue to sponsor and participate in the event each year!
Conduit. Before the bending began.
Conduit Bending. Conduit bending can be quite difficult to do on your own.
Group Effort. Sometimes it takes a group of students to get the job done. Team work!
Soldering. Students get a lesson from Halco employee, Dave Schott, on soldering.
Soldering For All. Even some teachers decided to try their hand at soldering!
Soldering. Each year we end up with quite the creation!
Plasma Cutting. Halco employee, Gabrielle, teaches the students all about plasma cutting.
Plasma Cutting. Students love to see sparks fly as they test their plasma cutting skills.
Scissor Lift. A yearly favorite, there is always a line for the scissor lift ride.
