The Learning Web Experience
The Learning Web of Tompkins County is a local nonprofit that supports youths through hands-on education. The program is designed to help with career exploration and expose them to different vocational programs.
Recently, we were approached by an employee whose son is involved with the Learning Web. Morgan, who is 12 years old, is interested in plumbing and electrical work, and was hoping to shadow in our prefab department at our Phelps, NY location.
Morgan spent half the day on Monday, December 30, learning about what goes on behind the scenes here at Halco. He assisted in making boards for the Navien boilers, got a tour of the shop, and even learned how to solder pipe fittings, which he was very good at! Overall, it was a great experience and we’re so glad that programs that introduce the youth to skilled trades exist!
