Halco Forms Tool Rental Company

Halco Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning has branched out into the tool and equipment rental business. The company has more than 200 tools and pieces of equipment, ranging from hand tools to bulldozers and dump trucks, that it rents by the day, week, two weeks and month.

President Hal Smith explains, "Contractors often need very specialized tools or pieces of equipment for a specific job. It is not financially feasible to buy these tools unless they need them on a regular basis. So, they rent them. At other times, contractors may have more work than they have equipment for, so they rent an excavator or dump truck just for the time they need it."

Smith says that Halco Tool Rental will deliver and pick up heavy equipment that needs to be trailered. The company will also maintain all equipment, whether in its shop or in the field.

The equipment is very visible, painted in Halco’s white, blue and orange colors. When not in use, it is parked at key locations  throughout the Finger Lakes. When parked, the equipment has big "Rent Me" signs letting everyone know that it is available.

Halco was established in 1984. Today, the Phelps-based company's service area stretches from Rochester to Utica and from Lake Ontario to the Pennsylvania border.
