Shad Cook has been awarded the prestigious LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional designation by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). The credential was conferred after Cook successfully passed a rigorous, proctored examination.
Cook, who lives in Geneva, manages Halco MEPS (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Sprinkler). This division designs and installs mechanical, electrical, plumbing and sprinkler systems for commercial and industrial buildings.
Halco MEPS, under Cook’s direction, has been involved in the design/build of four LEED certified buildings. Three are in Ithaca and one is south of Geneva. The company is currently working on a fifth building that will be LEED certified. To be LEED certified, a building has to meet certain energy efficiency standards set forth by the USGBC.
Since its establishment in 1984, Halco has grown to more than 115 employees. The Phelps-based company serves commercial and residential customers in an area stretching from Rochester to Utica and from the Pennsylvania to the Canadian border.
