Challenge

Design a LEED Certified hydronic heating and air conditioning system plus an ERV fresh air system for a 6-story apartment building with retail space in the first floor.

Solution

We installed two boilers to condition Gateway Commons, the 6-story apartment building in Ithaca, New York. One boiler is used primarily for heating the building and one boiler is used for the indirect hot water storage tanks. A cooling tower is used to cool the building in the summer. Water source heat pumps are used in each apartment for heating and air conditioning. An ERV is used to bring in fresh air to each apartment and the common areas.
