Last May, I arranged for a visit from your service, and a terrific and knowledgeable technician: Eric McConnell, was very helpful in reviewing our plumbing and heating needs. He made some great recommendations and we ended up signing up for the service agreements for both heating and plumbing. I am sorely delayed in following up on some of Eric's recommendation and will do so in the near future.
In the meantime, after noticing that our actual thermostat reading was lower than the preset temp, I called your toll free line last night. Another technician, John, called me back and we discussed the issue. Because we had heat (just not the normal amount), I asked John to arrange a visit for today, rather than making a trip last night. John did so, and promptly this morning just after 7am, someone from your offices called and we set a technician visit for this evening at 5pm. Hans, the Technician and a BOCES student, Lane, were here right on time. In fact, they were early actually, which was great for me as a mom of two who was running around all day.
Hans was very thorough in listening to my concerns, and shared what he thought may be the problem. Sure enough, after doing some tests, he confirmed his suspicion that the gas valve needed replacement. Lane and he were excellent in terms of their professionalism, their expertise, and their patience as I asked them tons of questions about our heating system and what they were doing.
This was the first time I had to call HALCO since our service agreement and couldn't be happier with the results. They had to turn systems on and off, run system tests, pull apart the old valve and replace it with a new one, reconnect the gas, and check to ensure there were no gas leaks. Probably basic stuff to your technicians but very scary for those of us who don't have that expertise. The house almost immediately began warming up and I was/am extremely confident in the safety of our boiler after they worked on it.
Between all the people with whom I have interacted from the very beginning, I was been truly impressed and appreciative of their high level of customer service and knowledge. I am terrible at completing paper surveys so I hope this note to you suffices to convey my thanks to Eric, John, Hans and Lane, and anyone else who helped us along the way. I plan on following up on the recommendations Eric made, and look forward to improving the energy and plumbing needs of our home with your company's help.
